Farming Simulator 19 Review, Main Features, Gameplay and Video

21st Century video games are becoming more and more demanding. They used to take a few hours out of people’s weekends but now they are so detailed and well-designed that players are willing to give more of themselves just to make sure that every objective is complete. Most of those games include side-quests and extras that have little to do with the main storyline, but you won’t find and of that excess in Farming Simulator 19.

Gameplay

You can expect to be playing for a total of 60 hours before you’ll complete this game. This is the 7th title in the popular Farming Simulator series that allows players to experience the ups and downs of farming without having to risk stepping in real cow dung. Every successive addition to the series comes with something new and Farming Simulator 2019 features a new weather system, a larger selection of crops and some cool new vehicles.

Game Modes

There are three different game modes for single players. The simplest game mode starts the player off with a farm that’s already stocked up with several vehicles already bought, crops ready for harvest, and a $1 million kitty to start off with. The hardest game difficulty is based on a ‘real economy’, which means that you’ll get to see how difficult farming really is.

Whatever the game mode, the objective is the same – tend to your crops and livestock and give them the best possible opportunity to be sold at the market. Proceeds from those sales will be reinvested into the farm by buying new land and equipment.

Graphics and Sound

The graphics play out beautifully. They are not the best graphics that you’ll see on any game released in 2019, but they are crisp enough to make dumping loads of grain into silos immensely satisfying.

There isn’t really any soundtrack to speak of. The only sound you’ll hear is the purring of your tractor and the odd torrent of rainfall. If you really need some music, you can turn on the tractor’s radio for some country music.

The Good

Driving your tractor around and harvesting your own crops is a lot fun. Mastering how the controls work will take some time but the tutorials are very thorough.

This game provides an incredibly life-like farming experience. And with more than 60 hours of gameplay and no energy meter, players can get lost in their farming activities for days.

The Bad

You won’t find any bad guys to run over with your tractor or have to take out an annoying neighbor who’s encroaching on your water rights. Only farming here.

Conclusion

Being a farmer quite clearly has its ups and downs. There is a zen-like calm that comes from tilling the land in your big green tractor under the rays of the afternoon sun and watching the cornstalks sway in the wind. That tranquility does not last very long because you’ll soon get caught up in a task that looked easy from afar, but turns out to be layers of busy-work.

Don’t expect any totting or damsel-saving here. Just a whole lot of farming.
