Darkness Rises is an action role playing game developed by Nexon. It is the third installment in the Dark Avengers series which has been widely successful worldwide.
Gameplay
Darkness Rises is set in medieval times and the player’s task is to explore the vast landscape, outclassing any enemy that stands in your way and destroying the evil that threatens your world. The Dark forces are gaining in strength and only you can defeat them before the darkness consumes your soul.
Along the way, the player encounters hordes of monsters trying to stop him. These monsters are found primarily in dungeons and they must be defeated through a series of intense and engaging action battles. Most of them are pretty standard however the boss battles are worthy tests of your skill and powers.
The further you go into the game, the more monsters that you meet. The battles play out in standard dungeons, duo dungeons and PvP battles to keep things varied and interesting.
The characters that you play as are broken down into three main classes: Warrior for those who prefer superior fighting skills and speed with a longsword, Berserker for those who like a senseless rampage and the biggest weapon they can find, and the Wizard for casting spells. Assassin is also available however it is considered to be a lesser class.
Once you’ve chosen your class, the game gets you started on a little skirmish that has nothing at stake. The aim of starting the game in this way is so that you can familiarize yourself with the controls which are as simple as using the virtual joystick to move around and clicking the on-screen buttons to use your character’s skills and attacks. You can mix together different attacks to string combos and do maximum damage.
RPGs are usually solo affairs however PVP in Darkness Rises enables you to test your might against other real-world players or AI in a bid to dominate the global rankings. If that’s not your style then you can still enjoy multiplayer by joining up with other players for multiplayer team PvP.
Multiplayer is also available in the main story mode. In this mode you can form a guild with other players and join forces to win the game more easily. This mode also makes it easier to unlock rewards which can be used to level up your characters.
If the battles aren’t intense enough for you, you can go for Raids Mode. In this mode, you are able to team up with up to three other real world players and fight in battles against huge bosses.
