The battles are 100 vs 100 units and last 20 seconds during which you can mind your business being sure that the victory is inevitable.

When it comes to setting up a new army, the commander is the one who decides who is worthy to be enrolled in his legion. This is why you get the chance to choose the class of warriors that your squad will be made up of.
